Nice setup at the Denver Aquarium

I never see my emerald crab. I like to look at my tank in the dark and discovered this. He's cuddled up with my bta. Now if only my clowns would follow suit

My clown fish started looking like this about a month or so ago, and it doesn't seem to be fading. Anyone ever seen this? I posted before and people said coral sting, but I'm feeling like that might be incorrect?

Can you buy bottled Amphipods?

Posted: 22 May 2019 06:44 PM PDT

I know they sell bottled Copepods for feeding picky fish like Mandarins, but do they have Amphipods? I'm paranoid my Yellow-Headed Goby will whipe out my existing population and I just want to beef up my population.

I plan on getting fluorescent tip torch coral, blue snowflake polyps, and neon Maze coral. Where do you think the best placements are for these corals?

Starting new tank, advice

Posted: 22 May 2019 06:59 PM PDT

My last saltwater tank was a 55 gallons, I had to end up giving it to a buddy of mine because I couldn't have a big tank where we live, and I kept my 20 gallon freshwater.

However.. After having a saltwater before, I find I really dont find my freshwater interesting. So I'm upgrading it to a 36 gallon bow front I'm getting from my friend next month. I'm slightly exciting about getting a fresh start, I hated my aquascape on my last one (it was my first attempt).

Right now I'm thinking of stocking it with :

2 clowns 1 blenny

However.. I had one fish before I really loved. My fairy wrasse, and I'd like another. Would this tank be big enough for one in general? Let alone with the other fish.

I was also curious if I should have two power heads again or if one should be sufficient for a tank this size?

Also, would my tank be fully stocked at that point?

How big would you make a sump, leaving some space in the cabinet for gear?

Posted: 22 May 2019 06:42 PM PDT

I live in a country where basically all sumps are custom-made.

The entire space inside my cabinet is gonna be 32" long x 23" wide x 28" high

How big would you make the sump? How much free space would you leave for dosing containers / reactors?

My idea:

  • sump (built-in refugium / ATO reservoir): 30" long x 17" wide x 16" high
  • free space for gear/containers: 32" long x 6.25" wide x 28" high (plus shelves/wall-mounted gear)

Is this a good sump-free space ratio for a cabinet? Any suggestion?

The reef is doing well. filtered shots are awesome, and the bubble tip snail is just cozy. added a small acclimation box which I intend to fill with marine pure blocks and as a secondary internal refugium.

What to look for in a used tank?

Posted: 22 May 2019 10:05 AM PDT

I'm going to go look at a used Reefer 350 today. I've never had a higher end tank (usually pepco special). Any questions I should ask or things to look for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Need UV sterilizer recommendation

Posted: 22 May 2019 02:44 PM PDT

I need a UV sterilizer for a 30 gallon Nuvo tank. If possible, please include the name of the motor I would need to push the water through It etc... I just don't know how to go about finding all of the components!

Need advice for starting a new tank

Posted: 22 May 2019 11:56 AM PDT

Hi I would like to start a new tank, but this time instead of 100+ gallons I would like to use a little 10 gallon one and start my very first nano tank. I would love to have some SSCS and other various inverts along with a few corals and maybe fish. Any recommendations for livestock? What would the bare minimum be for equipment needed?
