Goldfish - Aquariums - Bruce’s face when trying Rephashy for the first time haha. Also day three of treatment for ick using temp and salt and he seems to be responding well. No more bottom sitting or clamped fins!

Pearlscales not surviving

Posted: 22 May 2019 04:17 PM PDT

Over the past year, every pearlscale that I have owned have only lived for a week to a few months. I have a 55gal fancy small goldfish tank with a bubble eye, an oranda, black moor and a ranchu with mystery snails and a bamboo shrimp. All my other goldfish are doing fine. Both of my Pearlscales died this morning. I don't see any diseases. I checked my water conditions and they were fine. I do 75% water changes every 2 weeks. I don't get it. I have zero luck with Pearlscales. Is it just me or are they more sensitive to water parameters than other fancy goldfish? I'm so devastated. 😢

Okay guys, how can I help him?

Posted: 22 May 2019 01:14 PM PDT

He was in my work's fish pond (Chinese restaurant) and had been laying on the bottom today. Of course people throw coins in and they don't remove them, and care is questionable. I got him in clean (treated) water at the same temp and a bit from his home.

I keep trying to post this with a video of him, but it refuses to let me post

What’s wrong with my fish?

I noticed this lump on my fishes head. He's been pretty lethargic since. Sorry for the poor photo quality

I'm also struggling with algae control... does anyone have any tips on that?

Help! I keep finding contradicting info.

Never had a fish before, i have just got a black moore for my birthday and a 25L tank.

I have done some research before hand and upgraded it to a 56L tank. He has more space now, I am going to buy another slow swimming goldfish after a week so that he isn't lonely and plan to upgrade the tank to 75L at the end of the year.

I have flakes, pellets, frozen peas, cucumber, brocolli and live plants in the tank for them to eat. I have read up on the nitrogren cycle and how important their diet is due to their round shape.

However i don't know how often to feed him. Some sites say twice, others say once a day. Some say dont feed vegetables frozen others say dont feed vegetables and flakes at the same time.

Its all very confusing and some direction would be great, i searched the subreddit before but couldnt find any specifics for the black moore fish.

Is it acceptable to keep a solitary decorative goldfish?

Posted: 22 May 2019 06:26 AM PDT

I have a 60L (~16 gallon) tank where I have been keeping 2 decorative goldfish. All was fine until one of them died this morning. I did a bit of further reasearch and found out my tank may be a bit small for two fish. I don't want to just buy another fish, but I also can't afford a bigger tank for my current one. Searching the web shows nothing conclusive about whether keeping it alone will be ok for its mental health. I don't know what to do.. any experts here who could give me advice?
