Protein Skimmer Opinion

Posted: 08 May 2019 11:11 PM PDT

Hello,

I'm in the process of setting up a new tank and I plan on getting the Waterbox Marine 60.2.

I was looking at the Reef Octopus skimmers since I've used the older models in the past and been very happy. Do you think the Regal version is worth the extra money over the Classic? Also has anybody used the Space Saving version of the skimmers? Do they work just as good as the regular ones with the pump outside the skimmer?

Skimmer chamber dimensions are 10.2" x 13.8''

Hopefully somebody has used these and can offer some input. Thanks!

I often will click on an Image on this sub and when I scroll down I see posts from other users on this sub. How are you guys doing this? I usually post to my own imgur and it takes you there.

Chalice Help

Posted: 08 May 2019 09:59 AM PDT

I got a small quarter sized chalice frag back in October and have just about managed to kill it off. Most everything else in the tank is happy. Tank has been running for 2 years. Phos around 0.03, alk around 8 dKH, calcium around 450ppm, lighting with a Kessil ap700, recently started kalkwasser dosing via the ato. I've tried moving it around after it didn't look happy in the first spot but over the months I haven't seen any improvement. I've tried more and less lighting intense spots and more and less flow. I do spot feed a couple times a week and it does seem to like that but it's about half the size it was when I got it. Any pointers on placement or anything else I can do?
