| /r/plantedtank's Weekly Random Acts of Kindness! Posted: 17 May 2019 03:04 PM PDT The Purpose: We all perform tank maintenance. Sometimes, perfectly good plants end up in the trash because they simply outgrow their limited environment. Why not share these plants with another hobbyist? This monthly thread offers a space where buyers and traders can congregate, promote biodiversity, and make the world better. Offering other aquarium-related items for sale or trade is also acceptable, but keep in mind this is a "Random Acts of Kindness" thread. All equipment and plant-life should be offered in either trade or for as cheap as is possible. If you'd like to offer your homemade ferts, foods, or other equipment for retail sale, please visit the plantedtank.net's forums. Posting retail items for sale is not appropriate in this thread and those comments will be removed with a polite warning. The Rules: 1. If you would like to post a "WTB" (want to buy) or ISO (in search of), you must also offer items for RAOK or trade in the same comment. "WTB/ISO" posts that do not offer anything in return will be removed to keep this thread in line with its intended purpose.

| Posted: 17 May 2019 07:15 PM PDT I'm starting my first planted tank and the luffy grass seeds I got worked well, but they are starting to die in patches. They will turn dark green then start to decay quickly leaving a bare patch. New plants are starting to sprout in the oldest patches, so I'm not sure if this is their natural life cycle or those were seeds that just didn't sprout until now. http://imgur.com/gallery/XC7YZnG [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 17 May 2019 06:25 PM PDT I have read tons of guides, listened to YouTube videos and podcasts, and have no idea still where to start. So a couple questions that would be amazing. But to start here's what I do have: a 10 gallon tank, either a betta or a guppy tank haven't decided, and some sort of bottom feeder (would love shrimp). So my questions are; •What substrate would you recommend? Just a normal gravel or some sort of soil or a mix? I've never kept a planted tank so something complex is not ideal •What kind of plants would go well with above substrate? •What all is needed besides just the plant and a good substrate to get the planted tank going? Thank you so much in advance! [link] [comments] |
