- Can anyone ID this snail?
- Is this a normal color for an assassin? We got two in the mail today and this one is super light. And after crawling around a bit it went to the water line and has been sitting there for hours. Other one is happy and already killed a snail.
- This hitchhiker is finally big enough to photograph, any thoughts on what he is?
- How often should I feed my mystery snails blanched veggies?

| How often should I feed my mystery snails blanched veggies? Posted: 17 May 2019 06:47 AM PDT My fiance and I recently got some snails (4 mystery snails and 2 racers) to help keep our tank clean (75 gal with one fully grown oscar and one convict cichlid). Our tank got a little neglected for a while, but earlier this year we got back into the habit of cleaning it regularly and we got some snails to help out with that. I read on this sub a couple weeks ago that we should be supplementing our snails with additional food because they might not be getting all the nutrients they need from the algae in the tank. So yesterday I bought a zucchini, and cut it up and blanched it. I only put 2 slices in there (about 1/3 inch thick or so) because I didn't know how much they would eat but I wanted one slice on each side of the tank so they could find it. This morning we found nearly all our snails on the zucchini slices and they are loving it! So now I am wondering, how often should I be giving them these veggies? And should I be implementing some variety? I remember reading that zucchini, broccoli, and spinach are good snail foods. Should I try to feed them different types of veggies on a rotation, or does the type of veggie they eat not matter too much for them? [link] [comments] |
