Planted Aquarium - The pearling effect is peaceful looking. |
- The pearling effect is peaceful looking.
- First additions to the planted tank. Can you spot all 3? Zebra Nerites.
- Some progression since last update.
- Nothing to see here.
- 1 week progress
- Moneywort from my outside flower garden
- My Little Jungle Pond Tank
- I've neglected my 60gal tank for almost 5 years. I was pleasantly surprised to find it thriving with 0 maintenance, filter, or water changes. I want to do a water change but not sure if I might "shock" the plants and fish?
- My daughter’s night light
- First 5gal DSM! Am I doing this right?
- After MANY (and I mean MANY) months of trying to start a DHG carpet, it has finally arrived.
- Define "Low Tech"
- My little Walstad. Hand for reference. May throw a snail in there tomorrow.
- Ludwigia before a trim
- Moss ID, came mixed in with some pearl weed
- Jungle close-up
- Okay what is this white worm thing?
- Carpeting DSM plant that does not require Co2?
- Low tech questions
- Anybody know what kind of snail is this?
- Is there anything I can do to reduce the amount of wasted CO2?
- New at planted tanks. Thoughts?
- 3 month mark. Made this originally for my Betta. Now it houses some shrimps, snails and two dwarf suckers.
- Does anyone else get anxious or nervous about new projects, builds, flora, or fauna?

| Posted: 13 May 2019 03:09 PM PDT I see a lot of posts here that are "Low Tech" Tanks, but when i look, i see a can filter setup, and some heavy duty lighting, sometimes more, sometimes less. For me when i think "Low Tech", I immediately think of a walstad....is that just me? Personally the only low tech tank i own is a 1 or 2 gallon betta tank, that is just some soil, plants, and a light. But by looking at a lot of these other posts you could also call my 20 gal with heater, Glass lilly's leading to a Canister filter, but no co2 a low tech tank. But i think thats quite a bit of tech. So tell me, what is your stance on this. Personally i think walstad is definition of low tech, maybe i am wrong. [link] [comments] | ||

| Carpeting DSM plant that does not require Co2? Posted: 14 May 2019 02:40 AM PDT Hey i am redoing my 7.5G rimless cube tank and want to try and make a little carpet with the Dry Start Method this time around. But what is a plant that can be grown emersed like that, then not need Co2 injection after flooding? I know java moss is hardy and I was going to blender some and paint it on my rocks, but what can I use for the ground? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 14 May 2019 02:37 AM PDT I've compiled a list of questions I need answers too it would be greatly appreciated if you all could answer them. To start off I will give a run down of my set up to be. I have a 7.5 bow front and a 12 long tank. I am unsure what I want to use but I already bought a nicrew classic led plus 18-24". I will be using organic potting mix and a sand cap I was gonna do a simple low tech set up with just some moss, java ferns, anubias, buce, crypts, vals, and dwarf water lettuce but as I'm findingnew plants I feel lowtech is limited here are my questions

| Is there anything I can do to reduce the amount of wasted CO2? Posted: 14 May 2019 01:55 AM PDT Currently I'm directing my output towards the bubbles to make them travel a longer distance but I was wondering if there are other things I could be found to minimise wastage [link] [comments] | ||

| Does anyone else get anxious or nervous about new projects, builds, flora, or fauna? Posted: 13 May 2019 12:35 PM PDT I've been in the hobby for a few years but I still get nervous? I mean, I know my parameters. I've done my research. I understand flow, how to ID algae and most importantly the roadmap that leads to a balanced tank... And while I'm excited about a new build and being part of this "hobby" I'm also really nervous and anxious to the point where I'm overthinking things and slightly overspending. Perhaps it's because I plan to share more of my journey or perhaps it's because the discus species requires more care? This isn't something that affects me outside of this hobby but no matter the build, setup, or circumstance I can't seem to shake the feeling of an impending doom and disaster. [link] [comments] |
