| 15y/o common suddenly not eating dry food? Posted: 26 May 2019 06:46 PM PDT I have a 15ish year old common goldfish that for the past couple days has been spitting out any dry food (bug bites, tubifex worms, algae pellets, sinking pellets, flakes) he's taken into his mouth. His diet has primarly consisted on dry food most of his life. I can get him to eat peas, but that's not well rounded nutrition. He tries to eat my hand whenever I put it in the tank, so it's not as if he has no interest in food. Any ideas for getting him to eat anything that's not just peas? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 27 May 2019 12:20 AM PDT So a while ago I purchased this aquarium to give my two common goldfish some more room. Tank and I kept up with weekly 1/4 or 1/2 tank water changes but now I've literally only been getting 36 hours before the water becomes incredibly cloudy. The filter works by running the water over a "cotton" fibre cloth that seemed to collect some of the hard waste. I also presume this helps create a good habitat for good bacteria. I realised by rinsing this out I would get a little longer out of my water but I think that defeats the purpose of the filter material. So am I doing something wrong. Should I replace the filter material weekly ? Or can anyone suggest a better filter that would work with the design of the tank ? Still a newbie at all of this but really wanna give my two water buds a good life. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 26 May 2019 12:43 PM PDT Hello! The water in my tank is often cloudy. The water parameters are fine. We bought a new filter to try and solve the problem to no avail. We have water clearifyer but it doesn't always do well. How do I fix this? The fish seem fine. [link] [comments] | ||
| How do I know if the veggies aren't soft enough? Posted: 26 May 2019 03:06 AM PDT I saw a post recently here about feeding veggies to goldfish. I tried to feed them broccoli which they seemed to like (but few days later, the tank had lots of moss on it? not sure if that has anything to do with the broccoli). Today I bought some kale from the markets for them to try. I let the kale sit in hot water for about 5 min, then microwaved it 3 times at 1min30sec each time. I'm not sure if it's soft enough for fish, how do I know if the kale is too hard for them? I put it into the tank and they didn't really have a try at it... Will it harm them if it's too hard?
