Seeing a lot of bachelor betta bubble nests. Prompted me to make this low-quality memepost.

New betta in an old tank — previous fish died. How should I clean the tank?

Posted: 24 May 2019 08:58 AM PDT

I have a heavily planted tank that used to house a pea puffer. Sadly, he passed away yesterday. He stopped eating and faded away. :(

I've decided to use his tank for a new betta. It's cycled, has a ton of plants, some snails, etc. I don't want to break the entire tank down to clean it, but I will if I have to.

My question is: how to treat a tank where the previous fish died? How do I clean it and make sure it's good for my new fish?

After following r/bettafish for months and being jealous of you all, I finally came home with my very own boy. I only recognized his need for TLC after learning about Betta on this sub. Let’s see how he does!

Thomas Jefferson’s (TJ/teej) third day in his new tank and he’s already making bubble nests, that’s a good thing, right? Our first Betta and it was given to us without warning so we didn’t have time to prepare and research beforehand

Swim Shady just upgraded to live plants and he’s super angery about it.

Had a minor house fire two nights ago and was so relieved my little Gilbert Blythe made it through safely. I wasn’t able to evacuate him at the time due to heavy toxic smoke. He seemed a little stressed and excited with all the firefighter action but he is safe and sound now.
