| Posted: 02 May 2019 09:17 AM PDT I'm getting a betta for my desk at work. I've never had a betta so I've read a lot about cycling but I'm still lost on setup. My co worker has a betta in a 45 gallon tank and she's giving me her extra tank. My question is, can I take some of her water from her tank to aid the cycling process? Or just run it and wait the 4-6 weeks. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 02 May 2019 11:16 AM PDT I've had a Betta in a 3 gallon tank in my office for about a year now. Fish is doing well but I think it's time he gets a bigger tank. I want to move him to a 5 gallon (specifically a Fluval Spec V). I'm wondering if I can do an almost instant cycle with my established media. I plan to setup the new tank with gravel, water and heater. Run it for about 2 days to get temp stable. Then, from the established tank, move over half the water, decorations, plants, ceramic rings and sponge from old filter and put them into new tank. At that point...the new tank should be ready to go right? I'm not increasing bio load-just keeping the one Betta. Would this work? In a perfect world I would drop some extra ceramic rings in the established filter and wait a couple weeks for it to cycle....but the filter is so small on my 3 gallon that I can't fit anymore. Would this work instead? [link] [comments] | ||
