| Getting some free baby axolotls! Posted: 08 May 2019 06:31 AM PDT I'm really excited and working on setting up a tank this week. I was offered free axolotls (from a trusted source of course), and can take as many as I want pretty much. I'm setting up a 30 gallon long tank, and after doing a lot of research I still can't find enough information on a few things. -They will be young, but I don't know how young. I've read about people keeping the babies in small bowls and changing the water daily, but I can't find any sort of guide on this. -Would 3 be too crowded? Most people say one for the first 20g and additional ones per extra 10g. Axolotl.org in the side bar says 10g is enough for two individuals however. Any thoughts? Thanks! [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 07 May 2019 01:52 PM PDT Sorry for all the questions guys. Im such a newvie. My little buddy is floating. He did gulp some air when he ate last night but I think he's also stressed. New environment, it makes sense. I tried to bring the water level down so he can touch the bottom and destress but, I quickly learned my filter wont run with a water level that low. (My tank is a 20g high, which is why.) I'm going to try to find an expansion tube for the filter intake but I wont be able to do that for a few days. Is there another option in the meantime, or another way to help the little guy calm down and/or deflate the air from his belly? [link] [comments] |
