Is my shrimp pregnant? I’m a beginner to keeping shrimp, and I don’t know if these are eggs in the shrimps abdomen, or if it’s just food/waste?

New to shrimps

Posted: 14 Apr 2019 12:15 AM PDT

I recently did my first real scape and checked my water parameters and they were perfect for shrimp. Then a week later I checked again after a water change and the GH was suddenly 21d and my nitrates were fine but didnt go down. When I first started out without any experience, the lady at the store tested my water with I think a tds meter and told me to add aquarium salt to it so it would be higher. I add it after water changes. Could it be that the aquarium salt raised my GH?

[ADVICE] Ghost shrimp with Tire Track eel

Posted: 13 Apr 2019 11:40 PM PDT

We have a 29gal mixed tank with a variation of tetras, a beta, some snails, a few guppies, about 7-9 ghost shrimp and the most tretrous inhabitant...a freshwater tiretrack eel (he's still smol though.. only about 3 inches). About 5 of the shrimp have been carrying eggs for the past few weeks. Realizing this a little too late, I'm curious if they should be fine or are these new additions basically doomed to be a source of nutrition for the tank (mostly Mr. Eel cause his diet originally consisted of frozen mysis cubes)? Is there something we can put in the tank for them to seek refuge in?

Hello people of r/shrimptank!

I'm looking to restart my tank after a bit of a snail population explosion. I've seen all these beautiful tanks on here with the moss mat on the bottom as opposed to other substrates. My question is, where do you guys get these, or do you make them? I'm also looking for recommendations on live plants for my new tank. Thank you!

Help me build the perfect amano tank

Posted: 13 Apr 2019 06:27 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I know there's tons of guides out there for building the perfect tank for cherries, but I've never found a decent guide to making a tank perfect for amanos. I love their antics and I think they'd make a great companion for a planted aquascape, so I'd like some input on building the perfect tank for them, thinking 10-20 gallons.

Price is no option, so go nuts, let's find the best accessories, water parameters, companions (if any), and scape options to make some happy little shrimps.
