Feeding my shrimps. #Timelaps

Not the greatest pic, but this is my first berried Amano shrimp. Even tho I know the babies won't survive in fresh water, I'm so proud of her!

My blue dreams appear to be a garbage line

Posted: 22 Apr 2019 05:53 PM PDT

Around the turn of the year I bought 10 blue dream neos online and put them in a new tank. Tank was obvs cycled, etc., but new to shrimp. Was shipped 11, all survived drip acclimation, lost 6 within 2 weeks, shrimp were gorgeous and enough survived to start a colony. Not too bad of an attrition rate, but enough losses to make me suspect they were imports. At least 3 berried females produced in the tank and as the babies are getting some size, most look wild-type. I've only dealt with fires (red) and yellow (yellow) in their own tanks, but their fry looked more or less the right color as soon as they hit 1/8". In my mind, baby neos go from clear to the color they are going to be pretty early. The largest of these are twice that size now at 1/4" and I'm not expecting they are going to look like their parents. It's a real bummer, because the tank is doing great and I'll have to make sure every single shrimp is out before starting over with Lucas's line if they don't surprise me in a huge way.

You can't BUY wilder type shrimp! I just don't see these fry turning into blues, even the couple of odd blackish ones. Even if (when) I start over with this line, I might throw these in a tank just to see what they do over time. They are a lot more unique than most of my cherry tank culls, so all isn't lost I guess.

Sad day. I am giving up on my shrimp tank

Posted: 22 Apr 2019 09:08 PM PDT

I have a 10 gallon shrimp tank. And for some reason I can't get any to survive. They're all dying on me left and right and idk what's wrong. It has the same parameters and water as my 37 gallon tank. And I have the same exact shrimp in that tank and they are living happy and free. I have tried everything but I wake up and another is dead. Maybe retry in the future :/

Mixing cherry shrimp

What has been your experience mixing cherry shrimp of different colors? I currently have three colors (red, blue, yellow) and am curious how it's going to look once they start breeding.

Amano shrimp with eggs, send help

Posted: 22 Apr 2019 11:36 AM PDT

Hey /r/shrimptank, first time posting here and first time aquarium owner (only about 2 months). So I bought a few (6) Amano shrimp in an effort to keep the tank clean between water changes. I was CONVINCED that all of them were male (much to my sadness) but when I woke up this morning I noticed one of the larger one with what looks like a clutch of eggs, sitting still and fanning them.

Now I'm kind of an idiot but I'd LOVE to be able to have these eggs hatch and give me some babies. As the title says, please send help, any information/personal tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated. Obviously I've been doing my own research prior to posting but figured the more help I can get the better.
