Views on adding Copepods to planted tank on purpose? I rarely hear about people doing this in the freshwater community (I see that more in the marine com.). Mostly they're deemed to be pests. But seems like they'd make a nice small fish snack and help keep substrate cleaner from poop?

Advice for planted tank

Posted: 15 Apr 2019 08:55 PM PDT

So i have a fully cycled planted 10 gallon tank with a betta fish and 1 nerite snail. The one problem i have is that i don't think my plants are doing as well as they can be because my substrate is gravel. I want to replace the gravel with something like fluorite black. But i read that most aqua substrates cause an ammonia spike and ill have to recycle. Is this true? What can i do to replace my gravel substrate for something more suitable for aquarium plants?

Here’s Scott’s tank! The filter got some sand in it so it’s not in the photo, but as soon as I fix it, it’ll be back running :)

Planted+ 24/7 CC settings

Posted: 15 Apr 2019 07:13 PM PDT

Hey all. I'd like to start a brainstorm session on this light. Has anyone managed to get a good setting for their 24/7 CC? I have had difficulty getting a good setting that doesn't foster algae. The 3 hour blocks that it needs to be set with tends to make it a little picky.

It would be a shame to have to keep it on a timer. Thoughts?
