Posted: 06 Apr 2019 06:42 PM PDT Just out of curiosity, what fish go best with goldfish? For starters, I'm not planning to keep my common goldfish in my 75 gallon tank. The little guy was won at a fair, and having nowhere to put him (it was a choice between the fish and a bear and I picked the fish to try and give him a better life), I put him in my 75 gallon. It luckily only had fish that could survive in lower temps (platys, zebra danios, ghost shrimp, and mystery snails) so I put him in there and began plans for a pond so he could be moved there during the summer. I ask for tank mates out of curiosity. I don't plan to add anything in that pond except for him and perhaps another goldfish, but I do wonder what all you think/all your experiences with tank mates. I posted a similar post on r/fishtank, but asking about whether they thought my tank setup was acceptable. So, what tank mates have you all picked/used/have experienced? [link] [comments]

Listening to my dad's goldfish Posted: 06 Apr 2019 07:30 PM PDT Hi! Recently whilst watching Blue Planet, I saw that Clown Fish speak to each other in clicks and hoots, to warn one another of threats and the like. I wondered, does anyone know whether goldfish do this, and is there a high street hydrophone that might allow one to listen? My dad's goldfish are his favourite, if they speak I would love for him to hear them. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2019 07:01 AM PDT Newish to fishkeeping. So I've just switched from hob to sponge. I had replaced gravel with sand substrate and then the sand started causing havok on the hob. If it's not one thing its another ha. But I'm liking sponge way better overal! So my question is what is a good target rate of sponger filtering needed for goldies? I have a tetra "up to 40 gallon" aquarium pump. 15 watts. Is that enough? Should i get another sponge? I'm housing 2 telescope fancies in a 29 gallon. Thoughts on necessity of chemical filtering? Thanks for your input! [link] [comments] |
