Is it normal for fry sizes to be so diverse? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:23 PM PDT I ended up having a surprise fry batch 2 months ago and it didn't take long before some just stopped growing. Some of them are developing nicely, getting color and getting quite big while others are smaller than a dime. I've separated the smaller ones in a breeder box as I started noticing the bigger fry (which have to be at least 10x their size) picking on them. It's my first time raising fry so I wasn't sure what to expect but given that they're all from the same batch it seems odd to me that they're not even close to the same size. The smaller ones literally look like they're 2 weeks old. [link] [comments]
why is my goldfish not moving around much? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 10:56 PM PDT I have two fancy goldfish bought from a local pet store, a fantail and a black moor. They're still fairly small and have what i think is about 15L tank (i'm a uni student and can't afford to buy them a bigger one, but i'm saving for when they get bigger). They huddle together in one corner at night, but when i turn the light on for the day the fantail swims around. My black moor hangs out around the bottom of the tank barely moving most of the time, though he gets excited and swims around when i feed them i've checked the pH of the water and everything is fine, been changing about 25% of the water weekly and using water conditioner, since they're in a smaller tank and feed them about twice a day (fish flakes, i hear pellets are better though?) it's also fairly dimly lit most of the day since i prefer to keep my blinds closed i've bought a little vacuum thing to clean the gravel in case it's that i've had them about four weeks and only had fish when i was younger with no success and i don't know if he's sick or just lazy please help 😠[link] [comments]
Red spots on oranda wen and body Posted: 08 Apr 2019 06:26 PM PDT http://imgur.com/gallery/ytHOcqL In the video, you can kind of see red patches on the wen and a streak of red along the body, only just noticed this, not certain what it is or what to do, will update on quality of water once I get the test kit [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Apr 2019 08:52 AM PDT Do they care if their tank is bare/barebottom. I might get some floating plants, but idk. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Apr 2019 01:17 PM PDT I have two fancy goldfish which you guys might remember from previous posts, a pearlscale and a black moor, in a 4'x1'x1' tank. It's 33 gallons, (the specific type is called a 33 long), and I have an external canister filter hooked up to it that's rated for 70 gallons. They're getting a bit big, maybe a few inches long with round little bodies a bit larger than a golf ball. My mom said I can get the adult-sized razor scooter I've wanted for my birthday (April 13), or I can put the money toward a new tank for my fish. I really want the scooter for riding around on campus and I know that, realistically, we won't be able to afford a big tank for several more months. What I'm worried about is the tank size. Will 33 gallons with a beefy filter be enough for two fancy goldfish of their size for a few more months? They also have several live plants and a big bubbler in their tank for aeration. How do you guys feel about manzanita wood and branch-like driftwood? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 12:50 PM PDT Would it tear fins or hurt goldfish like it does with bettas? [link] [comments]
Free 40 gallon breeder! Stocking ideas? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:21 AM PDT Okay so I've boiled down my decision between either 4 pearl gourami (1 male, 3 female). Or two fancy goldfish (Ranchu, maybe oranda not sure) . Anyway would love your opinions! [link] [comments]
How many gallons should I have? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:38 AM PDT I have a 6 gallon tank that I have my fish in now but every website I go to says I should have a 20 gallon tank for a single goldfish. I dont have the money for a 20 gallon talk or the space for one, is my 6 gallon tank okay for my fish? My mom and my friend insists that its okay but I just wanted to know if im like abusing my fish or something.. [link] [comments]
Quick question, submersible pump noise dangerous? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 10:44 AM PDT So I was reading the biggers guid pinned on this sub and noticed the mention of an airpump causing vibrations that could stress fish. I have a second hand submersible pump which also sucks in air at the top to oxygenate the water. It's quite loud, is this an issue? Note that I do turn it off every night so the fish usually get at least 8 hours of darkness and quite (is this recommended? I don't know I thought it was a good idea, I'm a noob) [link] [comments] |
