If anyone happens to be in the central Illinois area and would like an oranda goldfish, let me know. I bought a cute little lemonhead oranda from East Coast Ranchu, and I received both him/her and an extra oranda. I don't want to overstock my 40B, as it has 1 oranda already, and the lemonhead is going to be her tank mate after quarantine. The extra one is red/white with some black on the tail.

EDIT: I've found someone to take them! Yay!

Algae are good?

Posted: 25 Apr 2019 05:12 AM PDT

Was curious about everyone's thought on algae in aquariums. When I started the hobby I was super trigger happy on removing any forming of algae in my tanks (mostly for thinking it was a bad thing).

However since I've learned that: - it can look good: someone posted a picture of their aquarium with side walls covered and it looked awesome. - it produces oxygen - it helps the nitrate cycle

So aside from dead algae which would worsen the water quality, isn't algae very useful to have in your tank?

Curious to see if I'm missing any disadvantages..
