TFW you eat poop and don't spit it out

We've finally decided to name him Houdini! Because we spend at least 5 minutes every morning looking for him amongst the black sand and black background. Hoover a close second.

My new tank with my poor scary fish. It's very big for him.

Question about adding bottled bacteria

Posted: 25 Mar 2019 09:41 PM PDT

There are two sizes im stuck deciding between, if i buy the one that is meant for tanks UP to 100 gallons and use it all will it be much faster than the up to 40 gallons one? Will adding too much ruin my cycle? I have added 4ppm of Ammonia about 24 hrs ago

Are there goldfish like ranchus and orandas that do not have a wen?

Posted: 25 Mar 2019 10:09 PM PDT

I'm not knowledgeable on all the types of goldfish yet. I like the look of the ranchus especially but, this is simply my opinion no offense to anyone else, I don't really condone the breeding of fish that may need surgical procedures in the future just to function normally (overgrown wen). So I'd like to find something similar minus the wen if it exists.

This showed up today. Injury? Thoughts on what it could be?

You all have met Pearl and Popeye– well this is Cookie. I took him from a miserable, crowded tank full of feeder fish when I still worked at a pet store. He’s living in my old betta’s tank with frequent water changes and plenty of plants while I save up for a 100 gallon tank. (Almost there!)

How do I tell gender and if my fish is going to lay eggs?

Such a lad

New fish seems really stressed. I got a lionhead goldfish yesterday and he has just been sitting at the bottom of the tank and only come out when there’s food. The other fish also avoid him and act like he isn’t there. Is there anything I can do to make sure that he lives?

What type of Goldfish is this? Can anyone tell me it’s gender or any care tips? I just got it yesterday- my first goldfish. I’ve always had bettas so I’m not sure what differs in their care! Thank you!! :)

i won this goldfish from the carnival yesterday, does anyone know why his eyes seem to be so small and shrivelled? they don’t seem to have the protective layer over them and none of my other goldfish have eyes like this?

Filter advice?

Posted: 25 Mar 2019 05:46 AM PDT

Hi Guys,

I am currently getting ready to keep 2 fancy goldfish. hopefully ranchus as they have won my heart.

Currently setting up a 140l Storage container as a temp tank while i get a stand and stuff built for the 40 breeder.

I am looking at the APS filters (sunsun) and am unsure what size to get as i dont know if i believe the 1000l capabilities of a 40 pound filter?

Any ideas?

Struggling to find HOB in the UK.

Cheers guys :)
