Mantle collapse?

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:02 PM PST

Hi, we're having a really sad time in the household today. Somehow someway, all 3 of my female mystery snails (I had 3 females and 2 males) all separated from their shells last night. They never completely came off, but they all had a good bit of white flesh showing. After looking into it, it seems to be mantle collapse.

Does anyone have any experience with mantle collapse and know what can cause it? My parameters are 0,0,10 and we're pretty careful with chemicals and cleaning supplies in the house since getting the aquariums. My first guess would be over breeding, as one of my male snails is relentless and is constantly mounting the females. I'm not sure what else could have caused it, and I really want to make sure this doesn't happen to any of my future snails. I really did care a lot about them and it really hurt to see 3 of my babies go in a single night.

Thanks for any help you can give.
