- I need some help identifying this little guy! Found him today couldn’t bring myself to pass him up!! He was just in a group of fancies, they guy at the store was saying lionhead but the curve of his back makes me lean more toward ranchu. Anyone able to tell me for certain?
- Waxy type thing floating in water? I tested the water parameters and they're all perfect. I recently got a new carbon filter cartridge thing so it might be from that? I'm gonna do a water change today and hope it solves the problem. This has never happened before

- Any foods I can use to fatten up my oranda? I came to the conclusion that I was under feeding my oranda and rather that increasing the food too much and risking swim bladder problems I was wondering if their was any fatty treats to give him that would help him gain some weight.

How to feed my new goldfish fresh veggies? Posted: 17 Oct 2021 12:09 PM PDT I just got my first goldfish, a black moor. (29 gal planted tank) How do I prep fresh veggies for him, and what kinds should I give him? I'd love to give him some of the cucumber I have, but do I need to boil it or anything? Thanks! <3 [link] [comments]

Goldfish suddenly lost interest in food after moving Posted: 17 Oct 2021 06:45 PM PDT Prior to moving out, goldfish was either mostly or fully recovered from what may have been a mild columnaris infection (mouth turned white, but very few symptoms otherwise, required no treatment), a very enthusiastic eater (homemade gel food, then repashy super gold gel food), overall very energetic. I was having some issues with pH and carbonate hardness being too low, which I purchased and have been using pH up for. I did not have a chance to really prep my goldfish for moving, I did not have a chance to monitor her closely post-moving, with the timing, substrate and fake plants have not yet been added back to the tank. I did my best with it, I got kicked out mid-semester by a roommate who turned out to be severely mentally ill and who I was and still am terrified of, I think in the process my goldfish may have gotten an injury on her side -- I see a reddish ring around one of her scales that has been there the past three weeks now. Immediately after moving I did notice a drop in energy, I noticed her not eating her gel food at times, and I attributed it to move-in stress but now that it's been three weeks I'm very concerned. I notice her lips are starting to swell up again too, though even at the peak of the swelling/infection she was still very energetic and ate a lot. A couple days back I gave her blanched lettuce when I saw she wasn't eating the gel food. She picked at the lettuce a little, then went and took a few bites out of the gel food. She did not touch the lettuce afterwards, and I haven't seen her eat gel food since then either. I'm planning to try feeding vegetables/fruits along with gel food to see if she will eat one or the other. Water parameters are 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrite, and 40ppm nitrate -- doing a water change for the nitrate and hoping to add substrate back in this week as well. Having the same pH/carbonate issues as before and adding pH up as always to help with that. For the most part she's just slower than normal, I occasionally see her staying in the same spot with fins low for a bit and she is looking slightly pale today, but most of the time she's responsive and still swimming around with fins up. Is there anything else I can do now? What should I look out for? And if possible please go easy on me, the past few months have been rough and I already feel god awful about my goldfish being involved in the whole mess. [link] [comments]
