Day #2 of my new Hammer coral frag, any of y’all who have experience with hammers/torch/frogspawn could let me know how healthy it looks and if placement/flow looks good.

bare hand.. glove.. or big gloves?

Posted: 13 Jun 2021 06:27 AM PDT

I have big shoulder level gloves.. and I used them for some things.. but when it comes to placing coral I don't have the dexterity in those things.

I have nitril gloves.. so I put one one yesterday when I went to play a coral, knowing my arm would go in there and I saw an immediate oil slick from it..

LFS guys put their bare hand in.
I heard horror stories.. but.. what do you do? My tank's only a 55g but to get to the bottom it's up to my shoulder. I worry more about what's on me.. than what's in the tank. But I've heard some it's not a good idea..

Thoughts?

After 4 days of trying to catch this fish, bought a bubble magus fish trap and finally got him. For everyone that's having trouble catching their wrasses or whichever, buy one of these; a bit pricey, but you will not be let down.

Any comparisons of how tanks visually look using Saxby vs Ab+ on the AI prime/hydra?

Posted: 13 Jun 2021 01:52 AM PDT

I hate how absurdly blue the AB+ settings make my tank look. It truly is an eyesore. Does anyone have pictures comparing how the overall appearance of a tank looks under the two? My tank has no coral etc yet, so I wanted to get an idea of how coral might look at these. I plan to rent a PAR meter so I could lock in a good PAR range regardless of the settings. But it's hard for me to tell just how different a real tank will look under them. From what I gather AB+ is much better for growth, but that is only part of the appearance of the tank.

I know the Hanna phosphorus ULR is the gold standard, but is the Hanna phosphate low range a close second?

All setup and running just added the salt today got a perfect 35 ppt (I have a platform for the skimmer the glue is drying)

The irony when my new and high nutrient frag tank is growing coralline all over, yet my mature, low nutrient display has only the one spot of it.
