Used left over LEDs from another project to finally get light in the cabinet. Controller was just a bonus. Makes working down here much more pleasant.

Not sure how you all get such nice pics, but I think I’ve finally arranged my plants how I like them. Suggestions?

Will Seachem Flourish Excel help grow plants faster/redder? Is this a good option for me?

Posted: 20 Jun 2021 10:26 PM PDT

Will adding in Excel help stimulate plant growth and keep red plants (like rotala h'ra) redder?

I'm pretty new to the planted tank world but have a 50 gallon planted tank (also with fish/shrimp) that has strong lighting and I am currently using Thrive-S as a fertilizer. It's stocked with fish so I don't want to set up a CO2 injection system and have to worry about lack of oxygen for my fish, so after some research it seems like Excel might be a great product to add in to provide some of the benefits of added CO2 without affecting pH/oxygen levels. I know it'll melt some plants (vals, anarchis) but I believe it is safe with the plants I have or want to add (ludwigia, AR mini, and rotala). As a bonus it appears it will help with algae control. Would this product replace using Thrive-S or can it be used in conjunction with it? Before adding this I figured I'd check here first to see what the more experienced aquarists have to say! Thanks in advance.

Low tech co2??

Posted: 20 Jun 2021 10:01 PM PDT

I don't have a co2 setup currently I just use the common tank plant fertilizer. and I saw my lfs had a carpeted planted betta tank and I didn't notice and co2 setup, I asked the guy and he told me he added co2 without the setup, this got me all types of confused I think he said it's the low tech co2 can someone explain how this is possible without the actual high tech accessories?
