| Posted: 09 Jun 2021 12:54 AM PDT Hi everyone! One of my four goldfish has recently started sitting at the bottom of the tank for some of the day on and off. When i approach the tank (NOT tapping glass) he moves around lots and is very active. No physical signs of illness. I'm worried as it is a recent thing that has changed in his behaviour. I'll give as much info as i can to help anyone who can, to assist me. I have 4 goldfish in a very large tank. i am not 100% sure on the volume as it was second hand but i put the measurements into google and seems to be about 150L sized. I've had them for about two years now, no issues. Very active fish, beautiful shiny scales and really luscious looking fins / tails. i had a smaller tank for a while. About 100L and then about 6 months ago upgraded to this size. i feed them 4x pellets per day i got from the pet shop. Fortnightly 20-50% water changes. Filter is cleaned in fish old tank water and new water added to tank is conditioned too. i've checked the water for ammonia and it is sitting at 0. i don't have a master testing kit so i am taking a sample to the pet shop to be checked tomorrow after work. But in the mean time, does anyone have any idea what could be going on with my fishy? Or any suggestions? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] | ||

| Added 10 fish to a 9000 gallon pond and I rarely see them Posted: 08 Jun 2021 11:57 AM PDT I'm worried about the amount of dissolved oxygen so I have an aerator on the way. Currently the water fall provides any aeration. I'm working to get my water clearer but still waiting on an electrician so currently have a haphazard extension cord set up that can't run the pump at desired speed (1 full circulation every 1.5 hours). When I see them they seem happy and there's been endless tadpoles, bugs and other things for them to snack on. I've tried feeding them but they aren't interested. They're comets btw. Any advice? Water test strip says things are within normal ranges maybe a little high on ph. [link] [comments] | ||

| umm upside down goldfish advice ? Posted: 08 Jun 2021 08:15 PM PDT My goldfish is capable of swimming around normally and being active, but keeps just laying upside down on the bottom of his tank. If I open the lid or sometimes even just wave at him he will seemingly voluntarily go back to swimming normally. Is this a swim bladder problem ? tank size ? smth else ? I've been trying to be careful w not overfeeding and giving him a couple peas every now and then, cleaning his tank, any other ideas ? [link] [comments] | ||
| New Friend for a newly lonely goldfish? Posted: 08 Jun 2021 04:01 PM PDT Hi, suggestions welcome: we have had a set of Comet goldfish for more than two years, one of the two recently died. Does the survivor need a companion? If so, what type or size companion would be best? Thanks in advance for advice! [link] [comments] | ||

| How much should you feed your goldfish at minimum? Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:23 PM PDT Hi, I read things online like you need to feed them an amount of food that they will eat within 5 minutes. But this is not specific at all and doesn't really give me an indication what is a good amount for each fish. I have 4 goldfish in my pond and I feed them small pellets. However they just keep eating so I have no idea how many to feed them for each fish. Do you guys have like a more specific amount to feed? [link] [comments] | ||

| Worried about my new goldfish at the top of the tank Posted: 08 Jun 2021 10:14 AM PDT I just brought a new goldfish home to put him in my tank, but he's spending a lot of time at the top of the tank. This is only behaviour he's exhibiting. The tank is 55 gallons, with a very strong external filter with some aquatic plants and sand substrate, if any of that helps. He's not particularly gulping, he just looks to be a bit stressed with his fins locked down. Is this normal for a new fish entered into the evinronment? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 08 Jun 2021 09:39 AM PDT Hello. I know that when goldfish scales stick out like a pine cone it is very bad. But are their scales meant to be completely flat? On my own goldfish their scales stick out the slightest bit and on photos of goldfish online their scales stick out the slightest bit too so I'd say it's normal. But how do you know if the scales are sticking out too much? Thanks [link] [comments] |
