Posted: 22 Jun 2021 12:55 AM PDT Oh, you guys. I've been planning my tank for months and learning about goldfish, the nitrogen cycle, etc. for years. I'd been going between a couple feeders and 3 fancies for my 75 gallon for weeks. My partner thought he would have a good time at the pet store and brought home 3 feeder fish for my beautiful cycled planted tank. I wasn't super happy but he didn't realize I was only going to get a couple fish, he thought I could fit "fifteen easy" in my tank. I looked. They all look very healthy and are cool looking, he picked out unique ones and I like them the more I look at them. So, they're in my aquarium, and as the night goes on the probability I'll keep them goes higher. Can three common goldfish live in a 75 gallon? 25 gallons per fish has got to be better than what they would go to otherwise? I like the idea of giving them the best care possible and seeing the flourish, probably to transfer them to a larger tank or container in a few years. It's not ideal but it's where we are. I'd love thoughts on this. [link] [comments]

Driving goldfish cross country, pray for me but also advice? Posted: 21 Jun 2021 02:22 PM PDT I'm planning on driving my two fancy goldfish over from Washington state to Wisconsin. Has anybody done this? Should I put them together or separate them during transit? And then when we arrive, I was planning on keeping them in a 20 gal until my 55 makes it across, how long would you keep two fancies in a 20 safely? [link] [comments]
Can you raise kh while lowering ph? Posted: 21 Jun 2021 07:12 PM PDT 55 gallon tank, black moor, comet, 3 years old. Nitrate nitrite 0, ph 8 kh 53 ppm The black moor has a little finrot I think I should raise the kh and lower the pH? I added crushed coral (2) 1lb bags in cannisters filter and I have acid and alkaline buffer, I add 2:1 alkaline to acid to target 7.0 But no matter what, my pH can get to like 7.8, but the kh goes down to like 30? Is it actually possible to get kh 150 pH 7.0? (From googling those are ideal parameters ) Sorry I'm a newbie [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Jun 2021 08:53 AM PDT Trying to figure out if I want to populate my 75 gallon with 3 fancy goldfish or 5. My partner is Chinese and will not allow 4, so it's either 3 or 5. It seems to me, 3 can live a full and happy life in a 75. I have seen 5 recommended and done well in a 75 also, however my reading says this would be pushing the recommendation a bit. But if I can have 5, I'd like to. What would you suggest? I am not getting these just to look at but to give these fish the highest quality of life possible and see them thrive. If 3 is more conducive to that then I'll stick with that many. [link] [comments]
