Posted: 23 Jun 2021 11:23 PM PDT We've had our female crayfish for a minute but decided (since we were at the same reservoir she was caught at) to find her a sexy mate…. We thought we were bringing home a similarly sized fellow but come to find out he is a fair bit bigger than her. Is she too young to breed? Is there a way to determine if she's reached sexual maturity? Also, she's just chilling in a hide while he is pretty frantically trying to escape his new home…. Will he chill out? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 09:58 AM PDT I've had a couple crawfish in a tank for about a year now. (Thanks to this sub) One of my crawfish molted and lost his front left claw, the whole appendage. Is this a sign of an illness, a bad molt, or just a thing that happens sometimes? He's molted many times without incident. [link] [comments]
How long is the carapace open/separated before molt? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 11:19 AM PDT my wild caught mudbug is definitely molting, but I'm slightly concerned about how long his shell has been open. Hes still moving, still twitching his antennae, and as far as i can tell it's business as usual. I've been keeping a sharp eye on him and I have't seen him convulsing or actually try to break out yet. his shell's been separated for ~2 days. He's hiding and moving very little. thoughts? im not too worried yet but I am a little concerned. I may have just noticed earlier than usual [link] [comments]
Why do some crayfish wash up on shore? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 01:17 PM PDT This is just a simple question, but why do crayfish wash up on shore of beaches sometimes? [link] [comments]
License or permit for red claw crayfish import to CA? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 07:30 AM PDT Does anyone know off the bat if you need a license or permit to import red claw crayfish from Florida to California? I'm interested in stocking an aquaponics system for solids management. [link] [comments] |
