Upgrading my boys tank. Any tips/advice?

Posted: 18 Jun 2021 08:38 AM PDT

Well my wild blue P Clarkii(right side) escaped while I was out of town and I didn’t get to him in time. RIP Blue. I now bought a juvenile blue crawfish(left side)so I can watch it grow. It just came in today and seems to be enjoying the new new home. Any tips to keep them from escaping?

Dwarf Crayfish and Betta help

Posted: 18 Jun 2021 02:22 PM PDT

I recently got a dwarf Mexican crayfish and put him in my bettas tank with other fish. My betta is a peaceful one and he does not attack the other fish. I have not seen him once attack the crayfish at all during the whole time. He just looked at him and moved on. The morning after i got the crayfish, I noticed my bettas fins were a little cut up. I thought this was fish rot until my crayfish randomly swam up and grabbed on and "rode" my betta. The betta had more cuts on him after he let go. I separated them for now and don't know what to do next because I really want them to live in the same tank. Again I have not seen my betta attack him once. Your help is greatly appreciated

Why is my ghost crayfish not eating crustacean pellets?

Posted: 18 Jun 2021 12:22 AM PDT

(Background info) I just got my crayfish about 2 days ago and he seems to have settled into his tank pretty well but I noticed he's not eating his food and it constantly pollutes the tank. What should I do?

Crayfish is on his back!

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 10:05 PM PDT

We've had him 3 months. We estimate he's about 2 years old. He was his usual self a couple of days ago, swimming, flexing on us, pulling his plants up and flexing on us when we tried to replant them (he's an ass but we love him) but yesterday he started to slow down. Today, he was significantly slower and we started to get worried. He would walk a little ways and lay on his side. I just checked on him and he's on his back. I've read that he's either trying to molt or about to die. Is there any way we can figure out which one before it happens? Or is it just a waiting game at this point?

Water parameters are in ideal range and he should be good on iodine based on his diet. However, 2 weeks ago (long story short) our water levels were high in nitrite and nitrate and we did 50% water changes over 7 days until they were back to normal. Turns out he was hoarding food in his cave to hide from another fish we had and the decaying food caused issues. Cleaned all the food out. We also lost our other fish and that hit me harder than I would've thought. Could it be that the water issue from 2 weeks ago is just now catching up to him?

Thanks for any advice! We're first time crayfish owners.

Also, his name is Diddy (cause he's a crawdad in the south)

UPDATE: it's been an hour. He's motionless. Earlier his feelers were moving a little and now they're not. I read somewhere that their eyes turn gray when they're dead? He has this gray film over his eyes close to his head, but could that be part of his molt? I haven't disturbed him because I don't want to stress him out but I want to help him....I'm beginning to think he's dead 😭
