I no longer have space to keep and raise bettas, but I'll always have one with me.

Not sure if I’ve showed Doctor strange yet. Here he is. He’s a lazy guy, that’s for sure, but he’s great.

I had no idea I could feel so much love for a fish (and yes the front row needs to be re-planted… My snails have made a game of uprooting them as soon as I fix them)

Upsate on Marty: Doing a lot better today, staying under the water. Still laying in his leaves currently (most likely exhausted from everything), but he is a bit more active and able to kinda swim around without immediately floating upwards. Still really happy we caught it at the early stages.

need help with 'green water algae'

Posted: 02 Jun 2021 10:03 AM PDT

hello friends! I am new to this group but have owned a handful bettas over the last 10-15 years or so.

I currently only have one finned friend. I have him in a fluval tank with three live plants. the filter is turned off, as even on its lowest setting, with extra DIY holes in the filter tube to further weaken it, Arashi just lets himself get sucked up against the intake. we live in southern California so our apartment is always between 73-81°. I don't currently have a heater for this reason.

I am new to live plants! and recently an algae problem has developed in my tank. From everything I've seen online, it seems to be "green water algae" as it doesn't settle on surfaces much but makes the tank water look like pea soup.

I do 30% ish water changes weekly. Lately I have been leaving my UV light off for most of the time to try to choke out the algae, but this hasnt helped much. Is there anything else I can do?

(It doesn't show up well on camera, as it just looks cloudy)
