My boy Mingo floating all his worries away. I wish I could live the life of this fuzzy water noodle for a day :] And his limbs regenerated wonderfully!

Hi guys, this is my rescue for those who saw my post yesterday. He vomited up everything I fed him since then plus a couple small gravel bits going to take it slower with refeeding but he's so thin it's scary! Anyone have experience with this? How much and how often?

Getting my first axolotls

Posted: 21 Jun 2021 07:32 AM PDT

Hello reddit of the cute aquatic beans,

I'm planning on getting some axoltols and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything before getting my little guys.

My current list is

  • 29 Gallon tank
  • Water cooler
  • External canister filter
  • Super naturauls sand
  • Tank decor (lucky bamboo etc)
  • API test kit
  • Tank stand
  • Backup battery (Power outages frequent here)
  • 2 axolotls

Is there anything crucial I'm missing? I have experience with turtles and betta fish but I don't know if there's anything that I'm missing that's axolotl specific. Thank you :)

I've had him for a couple weeks and all he likes to do is hide in a decoration I got him, any tips/ideas to make him move around more?

How to help a neglected Axolotl

Posted: 21 Jun 2021 04:28 AM PDT

So I recently rescued an axolotl from a friend of mine, I currently have it in a 55litre long tank, his gills are almost gone and he's very very thin, he doesn't have any diseases though. Any advice?

HELP PLEASE!

Posted: 20 Jun 2021 06:23 PM PDT

So I went to the fish store and talked to someone who has two axolotls. I asked them about axie food and she gave me red wrigglers, nothing wrong with her she was lovely. But, a minute or so ago, I gave my lotl ONE wiggler and he ate it super fast, all in one gulp. And then, he backed up a lot, like he was surprised. And now he looks like he's trying to bite something/gasping for air. Is he choking?? He's only 4 months old, but he's bigger than 6 inches, almost 8. I'm probably overreacting but I really don't wanna lose this little dude. Is he choking? Can axolotls even choke? Is he just being a normal happy axolotl??? Please help.
