Nitrite spike - will he be ok?

Posted: 15 Jun 2021 08:18 AM PDT

Hi all,

I just discovered a pretty bad nitrite spike in my ~6 month old axolotl's tank.

However, I only found it through routine testing, he ate and behaved like normal this morning and was begging for more pellets even after he ate his normal amount. He has been behaving normal all week.

I discovered the massive 1.0 ppm spike (tested with API master kit) and swiftly moved him over to a cold tub with fresh clean water (with prime of course) and now feel like a horrible parent. If I had noticed any behavioral changes I would have tested way way sooner (and i'm honestly confused on how his behavior didn't change at all but who knows)

He seems to be alright watching him in the tub (normal gill swooshing speeds, no tail or gill curling) He seems to be moving a little slowly, hopefully just since the water was a bit chillier than his tank, but I'm now concerned about what damage this spike may have done.

Will he likely recover ok since he showed almost no change in behavior from the spike? Should I put him in the fridge or just leave him in the tub with the cooling fan until I get the levels under control? Are there any other steps I should take? Any help, reassurance, or truth appreciated.

I noticed last night two of his gills are smaller than the rest. Is it something to be concerned about?

Axie safe plants?

Posted: 15 Jun 2021 10:25 AM PDT

Hi, I'm new to the axolotl world and I'm wondering what are safe live plants for these babies. I am a house plant person and I'm just unsure if there's anything toxic to them or what. TIA

He’s gills are pink and fluffy now and he’s getting fat now and then

These are Norman's gills a week ago, two days ago, and now. Fungal infections are no joke. He is now tubbed with 100% water changes daily and getting salt baths for the next few days. Thanks to some help from you guys, hopefully I can update with positive news in a few weeks.

Why is it NOT a community coin

Posted: 15 Jun 2021 04:00 AM PDT

It a shame we will not receive #axo. Axo airdrop will be distributed when price is $0,000006, but on pancake start at $0,00000000016. So that is not possible. Maybe in 10 years but not because this is scam,no community because we cannot speak the dev team, we cannot make decisions.

They said we would receive 25%bonus because of server delay, not received.

we should claim until pancake launch, nope not possible

withdraw after 15 june, nope not possible.

vote for decisions, not possible

it is not a community coin, it's a scam, we cannot vote, we cannot contact their team

We will not receive the airdrop because the price will not get 1000x. and if so, the money we will make on buying pancake swap and wait until august will be much more than 500$.

we have all wasted our times with clicking stupid robot , please upvote to make people aware of this scam.

Hey everyone! You heard that right, I'm aboutcto get an axolotl but i need some tips:

Is there any species that are easier to mentain?

What type of aquarium do they need?

On average how expensive are they including all the gear needed to mentain them?

And any other advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Possible power outages.

Posted: 14 Jun 2021 04:39 PM PDT

Hi so a little back story i live in texas and just heard that ercot is asking for power conservation and there will be possible rolling blackouts. When we had blackouts during februarys crazy winter storm they lasted anywhere from 3-7 hours. ive already put treated water in the freezer to float in the tank if i need to but i just wanted to ask if anyone had any other tips on keeping the tank cool for my little buddy during the extreme heat and no power for a cooler. thank you!
