- A while back I went to the pet store and purchased a mystery snail for my African clawed frog, but about 5 months or so ago I started to notice that there were babies in the tank. But I noticed that they look more like the average pond snails instead and Now the tank is full of them. Idk what to do.

Posted: 12 Jun 2021 12:52 PM PDT I went on a 3 day trip and came home to one of my snails dead and the other with what I thought was a hole in its face.. but it's still alive and moving. The one with the hole still has its antennae and is usually white but today is yellow. Any advice appreciated. They are housed with my male betta fish. [link] [comments]
Shrimp added to mystery snail tank Posted: 12 Jun 2021 07:02 AM PDT I'm probably freaking myself out, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this. About two weeks ago I purchased a baby mystery snail. He has done amazingly well since day one! This week we added 12 neocaridina shrimp (and the few strands of moss they came with) and I feel like our mystery snail has suddenly stopped eating (he would eat nearly everything I put in before) and has more or less disappeared. He first disappeared for a day (and then reappeared and was almost his normal self again for a day) and now he's pushing toward missing for two days. Since we've added the shrimp, he's been at the top of the tank way more often, climbing all over the filter (which is in the middle and has a little cup he would climb around. It's a beta filter, so also has a waterfall effect). I'm really worried that the shrimp stressed him out or something and he's escaped or is going to get stuck under something. I've checked all his regular hiding places and I'm our filter and still no where to be seen. All of our parameters are still perfect (just checked this morning). I'm mostly just want reassurance if I shouldn't be freaking myself out or advice if I should. Thank you so much! [link] [comments]

Where did these snails come from!? Posted: 12 Jun 2021 06:51 AM PDT In my tank I had a mystery snail (it passed away this week of old age) and I introduced a trumpet snail into the tank about 3 months ago. Shortly after introducing the trumpet snail many other snails started arriving daily... There was a baby snail that looked similar to the mystery snail so I assumed the two could have possibly mated. It lived a few weeks and got to about half an inch in size. Then a baby trumpet snail arrived. It was very tiny. I seen it twice and I have never seen it again, I assume it died aswell. Then 5 of these tiny black snails started to show up. They looked neither like the trumpet snail or the mystery snail so I was confused. Again knowing nothing on snail reproduction I thought possibly these are some sort of hybrid of the two. Well these things have been in the tank for close to 2 months now and they are not growing they are probably .25 of an inch long. Very tiny and all black. From a tiny bit of research I believe these are bladder snails? But where did they come from!? I have 3 of the 5 left alive and I just dont understand how they got into my tank!? Wth!?
