My mystery snail, who I named Theo after the movie Turbo, has grown so incredibly much in the short month that I’ve had him. Ignore the tank floor. It’s bare bottomed and so you can see all the snail poop lol. Parameters are all stable though, fully cycled.

Removing dead snail from shell?

Posted: 24 Jun 2021 06:19 PM PDT

One of my snails sadly passed away after falling out of my tank onto my wood flood. What is the easiest way to remove the snail from the shell and sanitize the shell so I can keep the shell because I really love my snails and I'm genuinely heartbroken about one dying because it climbed out of the tank and fell ):

Good substrate for snails?

Posted: 24 Jun 2021 06:01 PM PDT

So, i'm looking at starting a tank for snails (pomacea bridgesii to be specific) and was wondering what substrate (or if no substrate) would be best? feel free to drop the brand you use too. Want to make sure my snails are happy and healthy.

I have just added these 10 snails to my 55 gallon which seemed to be overflowing with brown algae. After 24 hours though they seem to have made a significant dent in the algae and I am worried they may soon start to starve. How can I tell? I have bactera AE I can add to the tank but I am not sure if I should wait longer till they have really cleaned things up or not.

Also this tank is extremely lightly planted right now as my shipment of plants was porch stolen but once I get that replaced then snails will soon start to have plenty of plant debris to eat.

Is that light part new shell growth? I’ve had Vincent for 3 days and I could swear that wasn’t there when I got him. kH 4 gH 14. Do I need to add some sort of calcium or does it look ok?

Are blood worms a good option for protein for mystery snails or should I choose something else?

Calcium carbonate tablets

Posted: 24 Jun 2021 07:49 AM PDT

Right now, I only have one black mystery snail in my tank, but the shell on the little guy is starting to show little white spots where the acidity in the water is doing some damage. I have some calcium tablets for people and want to add that to the tank to help him out.

With just one snail, any idea how much I should use?
