Advice needed for new mud pond? Posted: 20 Jun 2021 12:49 PM PDT So I'm in getting an old pond from family that used to rear edible fish and shrimp. Since I don't have any plan to keep running the business, I figured I would maybe rest a few koi. I have no clue where to start and what kind of water i need. Is there any material I can read up on to start? It's a fairly large pond I suppose. 60mx80m and maybe 3-4 meters deep in the middle. It's completely overgrown with some weeds now but I suppose they will be all dead when they submerge and get covered by rainwater. Basically mud/soil at the bottom when it get filled up by rainwater in the next few weeks. It was drained to clear up all the trash and plastics that had accumulated after years of disrepair. I've tried to do some reading but not even sure where to start. Stuff like 1) testing the water 2) aerating the water 3) what plants or stuff I should grow to help koi 4) is it too big to even have koi? I'm hoping to do a mini video series once I start and keep a mini update blog thing here or a Wordpress or something. Any help to good reading material would be awesome. Thanks!! [link] [comments] |

what do you get when you breed chagoi and Kohaku Posted: 20 Jun 2021 04:14 PM PDT 2 of my fish had babies. 3 were chagoi, 1 was a kohaku, but one looks like an ochiba shigure, but I heard the way you gets those are a chagoi and a soragoi but not only did I not have and soragoi there was a baby Kohaku, and im sure it wasn't a red colored chagoi because it was red splotches on a brown base.
