Well these guys have certainly grown on me in the last week. Here’s a video of one of them exploring a leaf after lights out. Apologies for the video quality

Tiny baby mystery snail has damaged shell; what can I do?

Posted: 30 May 2021 08:02 AM PDT

My mystery snail hasn’t come out of its shell for about a week

Firstly it's not dead because I've seen it peek out of its shell now and then, but it hasn't moved from its spot in my 10 gallon betta fish tank since I last changed the water. Meanwhile my other mystery snail that shares the tank has been active all this time so I'm not sure what's up :|

are all the things on my snail normal? is it harmful for him?

Nobody told me how fast bladder snail grow. I just set up this tank a week ago and this was a tiny hitch hiker a week ago. I don’t mind snails. I have plenty of algae.

Soon to be snail owner here!

Posted: 30 May 2021 03:28 PM PDT

Ive been doing tons of research on different types of snails lately and finally found one I want to buy and add to my family! I'm wondering if anyone can give me ideas on what's best to put in a tank with blue mystery snails? I'm hoping to put live plants in the water too, any recommendations on those? And should I get more than one snail, so they get bored/lonely on their own?

Thank you in advance :)

Snail illness

Posted: 30 May 2021 03:26 PM PDT

Okay so my snails are still sick, from mystery ailment and I can't figure it out.
Tests for pH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, kH, gH, and copper all come back with reasonable amounts (that being 0 copper on the last one), I need to check phosphates shortly but there's no reason that would be causing issues in a freshwater tank. Running the water change tapwater through a home-made activated carbon filter before using prime seems to have helped, so it may be a bit of contamination by something that I can't test for, but it only seems to be hitting my snails, not my shrimp. It's killed a mystery and I think it's killed a marbled limpet snail, and has also taken out two little yellow freshwater clams. No sign of trouble with the spixis, or the ramshorns, or the bladder snails, but 2/3 of those are pretty bombproof...

However, I feel like I've also caught glimpses of some kind of stringy white worm reaching out from the gap in one of my mystery's shells (inside part of spiral, right where it meets the opening) and am worried that that's some kind of parasite that may be hurting them. I really don't know what to do. I can't find any reference to something like this when searching, and nothing makes sense.

Best snail for a 10 gallon betta tank?

Posted: 30 May 2021 06:40 AM PDT

I've got a halfmoon plakat with very high energy that was kept in a 5.5 gallon up until recently when I noticed he was acting bored and lounging around more than he used to. I upgraded to a 10 gallon and he's swimming all over the place again.

I've heard snail tank mates can be good for keeping bettas occupied and preventing boredom. I know next to nothing about snails, so I was wondering if any of you had any good suggestions for a tankmate for my boy's 10 gallon. I only want one snail, and would prefer a male if they are possible to sex. I just really don't want eggs if I can avoid it. I understand that some species cannot hatch in freshwater?

Thank you for any help in advance.

I have 5 snails I bought, recently I noticed 3 seriously small baby snails that popped up, I think one of mine had babies?

I have decently grown snails, but recently I just noticed 3 very very small snails came out of nowhere. Like a dirt speck. Just traveling the tank, I did not see any eggs though how could they hatch so quickly or where did they possibly come from? My water is filled to the top and it's not very heated in the tank so?

Question about fishing line in tank

Posted: 30 May 2021 09:11 AM PDT

I'm looking at ways to suspend something on the back of my tank and really don't want to attach it permanently. I like to move things around to provide new experiences for them. Will crawling across fishing line that is flush against the glass hurt the mystery snails foot? My idea was use magnets but holy crap there is so much conflicting info on them I'm super hesitant at this point. I'm not adverse to using something else but am stumped. It's pvc honeycomb looking thing, sections of circles siliconed together.
