hey guys. i posted here about a week ago looking for advice for my betta. i reached out to jessiel.bettas on instagram as someone suggested and she confirmed that it was a dorsal fin tumor and that all I could really do was keep him comfortable.

unfortunately, he passed sometime between midnight and 10AM today.

i feel a little ridiculous being so upset over a fish, but he was so important to me. he taught me a lot about how to properly care for bettas, he was SO sassy, and always keeping me on my toes. he was with me for my first year of college and moving out of home for the first time, my first kiss, my first boyfriend, a lot of bad mental health days, and a lot of good memories. he was such a special little guy and i'm going to miss him so much.

thank you to everyone in this sub for your advice, i hope you all are doing well and get to treasure your bettas for a long time.

i got sushi a week ago today.. put him in a tiny fish bowl (i thought it was enough space until i did some research) then got him a big tank and he’s so happy!

I've had this fish for over two years in a planted 5 gallon. He was always so personable but the last few weeks he stopped coming up for food and nearly all his red colouring faded and turned white. No dots, lumps or anything. I just don't know where I went wrong and I feel like an asshole and feel like I didn't care for this fish properly.

Im in tears. My betta is extremely sick. I have had him for one week, so I believe he was sick when I got him from the store. He has black spots developed over his body, he wont move for hours at a time. You can literally poke him and he wont do anything. His fins are frayed and his eyes are swollen
