I went out of town and my fish passed away.

I was out of town for about 4 days and when I came back, my fish was dead. The mystery snail helped himself to the remains.

I have a small child that doesn't understand the concept of death yet and I don't really want to have that conversation with them quite yet (still too young to understand it). I've told them that this fish must be sleeping underneath the leaves and that's why we can't see him.

When I got Frank, I was ignorant and didn't know anything about cycling the tank and had to do the cycling while he was still in there. Would it be possible to cycle the tank in about 4-5 days? I do love having betta fish and I'm heartbroken Frank died alone. I don't want my child to come home to an empty tank. Is this something that's possible or should I just accept that I'm going to have to have the "death" talk?
