Newbie axie owner question about limb loss

Posted: 15 Apr 2021 08:55 AM PDT

Just got two babies in the mail! One unfortunately took out his stress on the other so my wild one is missing a limb, tail tip, and saddest of all, two gills.

Anything I can do to help? I want to make sure he's ok and that he won't give up on life before they regrow. He's so little right now...

Tank fully cycled, tested daily atm since I just plopped them in yesterday and wanna monitor for ammonia spikes just in case I didn't cycle right. I tried tentatively to feed them this morning but neither were interested and didn't wanna stress them more.

Floating baby eating bubbles pls help

Posted: 14 Apr 2021 08:34 PM PDT

I just got 2 young axolotl and have them in a 29 gal tank, one keeps eating air bubbles and floating around the top of the tank. Putting him in a tub with enough water to sit in and a few hours later he's pooped and is fine. Then I put him back into the large tank and 10 minutes later he eats bubbles and floats once again. I know that floating can stress them out but i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here. He's still eating, does he just like floating ?? I'm just concerned and i want both of my babies to be stress free. My tank is in the cycling process and i'm monitoring parameters 1-2 times daily for ammonia spikes etc, none yet and no niTRITES or niTRATES. 7.4 pH level when tested with the high range API pH testing kit. Nothing seems to be wrong with his gills and no curved tail, is just actively floating and swimming around the rim of the tanks. He cannot sink himself, or if he can he isn't trying when i blow him to the bottom with the baster. I'll do anything to help the little guys! I just don't know what i'm doing wrong !
