Long gilled copper juvenile

She did get a little hurt a while back with a different axolotl but her gills have always been small.

Mini axolotl

Reached in to feed her but kept dropping it and she ended in the circle of his hand thinking it was a hide and tried resting. I took quick photo then ushered her into an actual hide to protect her coat. Anyone else have affectionate lotls?

Is my cycle stalled?

I started processing ammonia to nitrites about 3 weeks ago but the nitrites have stayed over 5ppm for 3 weeks with no nitrate readings. Should I do big water changes to lower nitrite or wait a little longer?

Changed the look of the tank so there's more spaces for her to explore and perch. She will be moving into this tank in 2 months :)

Do Axolotls move a bit while they're a Juvenile?

Posted: 09 Apr 2021 07:55 AM PDT

Hey! This is my first post on this Sub-Reddit and I'm wandering something, do Axolotls move a lot or are they quite lazy?

I have 2 Juvenile Axolotls, Casper and Woody, and they usually are staying at a corner where they're being fed.

The tank at the moment is only for their "Childhood" as it isn't the biggest but it fits them.

They don't move much but I always see others move, they're quite healthy but yeah.

If someone could help me it'd be useful!

I have picked up an axolotl today to put in a new 50 gal with my current axolotl, but the new one is a little larger than I had expected him to be, is it safe to have larger axolotls in tanks with smaller axolotls?
