• Nitrite finally gone! If you are looking for a good bacterial starter I highly recommend Tetra Safestart Plus!! I tried Dr tim's one and only and tons of seachem stability and they didn't do much for nitrite, two days of safestart and my month long nitrite spike is gone!!

tank cleaning Posted: 23 Apr 2021 09:15 AM PDT hi all, i am an new axolotl owner and i have a baby who is 3 inches. he is in a 20 gallon tank no substate, decorations and dechlorinated water with tims denitrifying bacteria. i try to get any left over food from when he eats as well as having a sponge filter, and i switch water about every week. there is a white film on the bottom that sometimes gets clumpy but its not to the extent of fungus pictures i have seen on the internet. he also has no fungus on his gills which i think is good(?). im not sure what to do and i want to keep him as healthy as possible. here is a picture which shows what i am describing https://i.imgur.com/KjMMpKK.jpg. thank yoh all so much and have a great day submitted by /u/mxnyxx [link] [comments]
