Trying to keep this hungry guy fed!

Dust is finally settling down. I jammed a ton of floss in between the baffles and she cleared right up! My pump probably thank me lol. I’m in love with this tank and the dimensions.

Are red planaria bad to touch??

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:06 PM PST

I was scraping some of my glass and I bumped the side of my tank and got a good 5-8 of them on the side of my hand. I quickly washed them off and then washed my hands in the sink, I think Zoa's paly toxin has scared me into thinking everything in my reef is not safe to touch.

Do I need RODI

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 11:51 PM PST

I'm thinking of setting up a 20 gal long with a hob and a nice light. I have pretty hard water. Will I need an RODI if I do weekly water changes at about 6gallons?

Is a $20 refractometer from Amazon OK?

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:52 PM PST

New to saltwater. I'm looking at getting a refractometer, and I'm wondering if a $20 from Amazon is alright? Are these delicate instruments that are worth spending twice as much on, or are they pretty simple and all the brand names are just hiking up the price for basically the same thing?

If you have recommendations, I'd love to hear it.

So I have an old Cubic Orbit 20 lying around, I tried the Jellyfish thing and it didn't work out. Thoughts on what else to do with this?

Starting a 75gal FOWLR with sump then transition to adding corals

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 05:09 PM PST

So I have several planted tanks and am finally pulling the trigger on going saltwater.

I got a 75gal with stand for free on Craigslist and made sure it was watertight.

I am planning on getting the tank drilled and using a spare 20gallon as a sump.

What equipment do I need that isn't too their as I am trying to create a budget and not go overboard with equipment.

I've never had a sump and am wanting to have a refugium in there to help keep things balanced.

I don't know where to start with equipment or pumps for the sump.

I am going to start with no corals since the light is so expensive but maybe waiting 6-12 months before adding it and getting corals.

Any advice or equipment recommendations would be extremely helpful

Red bubble, egg looking things behind zoa colony? It’s fluorescent under actinics could it be zoas spawning?

Best resources on coral varieties

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 02:20 PM PST

I am looking for the best resources for coral care/and varieties for work. My knowledge is very basic when it comes to them, so if you guys know of any books, or websites that will help further my studies on them, I'd appreciate it! Books would be prefered as I can browse while idle at work.
