What is this stringy, wheat-looking growth around my corals? Some kind of algae?

High nitrates and nitrites. New ish tank.

So, I have a new 60g tank (5-6 weeks old). I got my fish a smidgen before the tank was completely cycled, 4 TINY clowns (I said 2 but she put 4 in the bag and my anxiety kept me from saying otherwise. I know...2 will probably die). Ammonia is at 0-.1 but nitrates/ites are off the charts high. Been that way for 2 weeks or so now. I waited 2 weeks before doing a 20% water change and have done 2 15-20 ish % water changes since. No2 and 3 levels haven't significantly dropped. Clowns seem to be doing alright.

...any tips? I don't wanna kill the fish (even though all fish appear to be doing well. I know...2 might/probably will die. Have a school of 3 and a loner). I'd like to get water levels in check to add more fish. It's so empty and I'm fighting the impatient bug.

I know...should have completely cycled. I know...shouldn't have added fish till it was set. I know I know...no need for those comments. I need advice not criticism.

Side note...it's not as easy as you guys make it look. Lmao
