I'm planning a few jars and decided to throw together a mini filter out of stuff I had sitting around.

Can this work?

So, I am taking down a 10gallon due to reasons and I have an assassin snail. Worst comes to worst, I just have to drive 25 mins away to the only pet store who accepts take ins. I have a .5 gallon jar that has hornwort and aqueon plant/shrimp substrate. Without a filter and if I add small amounts of carnivore pellets, can this sustain and work out? I want the best for my snail so please tell me if this will not work out.

Is it practical to find your own spring tails from your local environment or do you have to purchase them?
