New Oranda buddy finally arrived in the mail! 3 inch Calico from Goldfish Island, and he's already getting along well with my Blue. Can never get any good pictures of goldfish, though..

Goldfish Setup! I added fishbowls for them to swim in and out of if they want and big river rocks on the bottom. Let me know if y’all have tips on how to make it better! (Also bettas at the bottom, tanks are too small for any other fish)

View of my 60g tank that I fall asleep to every night that houses a ryukin, oranda and black moor.

Kelso(common goldfish) is being a jerk to Dorsey(ryukin). Do I need to separate them or get a bigger tank? The video is just for reference.

Do I need to ease my fish into a planted tank

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 01:33 PM PST

Sorry another post today :)

I'm switching to a planted tank but do I need to add plants slowly to not stress out the fish?

Or will they be okay with the sudden change

Thanks :)

Pisces dance lol

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 07:13 PM PST

My three guys (named Arlo, Tuna, and Koi) are the funniest fish ever in my tank lol. I can tell when they're playing around, chasing, racing, even playing Tag. Sometimes they do this Pisces thing where 2 of them swim in a circle chasing each other's tail. What's that?

What are signs of stunting?

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 11:24 AM PST

Hi! I'm wondering if my 2 goldies are stunted (a common and a wakin). I got them at PetSmart at about 3 inches. I have them in a 55 gallon and after 4 months with routine water changes they haven't grown. Has anyone had experience with stunted golds? How can you tell they are?

How do I properly cook and clean broccoli for my fish? Also how long can it be kept in the tank before taking it out if for some reason they don’t like it?

Question: One goldfish is chasing the other constantly

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 01:55 PM PST

Question: One goldfish is chasing the other constantly. The owner says they are both males, they are happy and I have been with them for a while and they are all right. I am just thinking the one gets distressed. Thank you for the feedback

For anyone struggling to keep goldfish

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 04:17 AM PST

Just wanted to share in hopes it might help a fellow fish keeper.

For years I've struggled to keep goldfish. Parasites, bacterial/fungal infections, parameters being less than perfect(especially with nitrates). I've lost many goldfish a good portion of them were 200-300 dollars high quality ones. I was close to giving up, but each fish death comes with experience to be learned.

The best lesson i've learned is that prevention is better than cure. Once I've learned that the 100% of the stress of this hobby went out the window.

I've gotten rid of everything in my tank. Wood, plants, rocks, substrates.

After i got rid of everything and went bare bottom oddly enough the water became crystal clear and perfect parameters were achieved. The goldies are healthier and more active.

Best of all all that money that i did not spend on the bells and whistles went back in my wallet and i was in turn able to get them higher quality food(repashy super gold). It feels like perfect balance was achieved.

So for anyone struggling to keep goldfish, keep at it, dont give up. Sometimes going back to basic is the key.

Plastic plants to real

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 09:55 AM PST

I'm looking at switching my goldfish tank to real plants but need some advice please.

I would like some tall plants, moss balls and small bits of grass style plants but not sure if this is possible.

I currently have black sand substrate.

I'm worried that if can't keep the plants alive they could rot in the water and kill my fish.

I don't mind if the gold fish eat them as I can replant but I just don't like the way my plastic ones look any more.

Thanks for reading :)

Internal Parasite?

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 08:04 AM PST

Hi everyone! Question regarding internal parasites. We recently spotted that one of our two goldfish has been excreting white poops, having done a little research we're concerned it might be some sort of worm or internal parasite.

He seems to be eating still but has spent a lot of today asleep at the bottom of the tank. Getting a tad worried.

Can anyone confirm if I'm on the right train of thought here and if there's any specific methods/UK medicines that have worked for theirs in the past?

Much appreciated! :)
