Set up my first 55g. it has a couple snails. I dosed it with salt, water conditioner, & stress coat. Is there anything else i should be doing, how long I should wait to add goldfish & do you have any suggestions for a quiet filter? This is in my living room and is pretty loud with the HOBs. Thx

Tater moved into his new 40 gallon today, no more large gravel, no fake plants and double the space to swim, I think he's happy.

Easy, noob friendly filter for 75gal???

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 08:24 PM PDT

Hello! Does anyone have any easy to use, assemble, filter recommendations? I will be getting a 75gal. We plan to put 2 young ranchus, plants, and maybe other types of fish?? Still need to do research on other things we can stock it with. We want to get the tank cycled first but forsure will be getting 2 ranchus lol. Preferably would like to have only 1 filter (2 just seems very complicated??) Ive grown up seeing all the HOB filters, ive heard of canister filters but they seem kinda complicated with all the tubes and wires? I guess our options are sponge filter/canister/HOB?? Maintenance isnt too big an issue but its more of putting it together to get it to work and assembling it into the tank... ik we need 10xgal/hour but none of the filters ive looked up seem clear about how many they turn per hour. Please lmk whatever good but easy to use filters!!!!

Begging fish

Is it normal for your fish to swim crazy at the top every time I go near the tank? Am I not feeding them enough? I give them a pinch of micro pellets (I guess 2 to 4) twice a day.

Quick salt bath question

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 11:25 AM PDT

I'm considering giving my female Ranchu who's been struggling with leaning a little bit a salt bath in a gallon bucket. I've tried researching exact amounts per say and how to do this safely, but I'm seeing mixed results.

She's about 4 inches big and quite round, and I just want to make sure nothing is still bugging her.

How many tablespoons of aquarium salt would be good for a gallon bucket of tank water? How long do I leave her in there for? I've heard that fish can go on their sides sometimes when in a salt bath mixture? How do I know if I really need to remove her?

I have a divider, so I imagine once she's done, I could put her right back in the tank since nothing will mess with her I'd imagine, or should I prepare a separate bucket of tank water and let her sit in that as well?

It's little questions, but I want to make sure I'm not going to harm her or stress her out anymore than she may be!

Any suggestions would be wonderful! Thank you!
