Posted: 12 Mar 2021 05:31 PM PST I currently have two black moors in a 20 gallon high tank, I know this is too small for their full size but money is tight and I'm waiting on a good deal on a 55 or 75. Right now they are about 2.5 inches, my question is about how long am I safe to wait on an upgrade before they start getting stunted. Also my mom has 3 comets in a 55 roughly 3-3.5 inches in length advice on that would be appreciated too. Thanks in advance starting to really get into the hobby and want my fish to live long healthy lives :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Mar 2021 09:02 PM PST Alas, one of my dear orandas has fallen ill with dropsy. He's currently in a hospital tank medicated with epsom salt, metroplex, and kanaplex with 100% water changes a day. He's being fed medicated Repashy with metroplex and shelled peas each once a day. It's his third day of treatment. If anything, his symptoms have progressed to where he now-- when not moving about the tank-- will stay in an unnatural position at the bottom of the tank turned up so he is facing the surface of the water. My question I guess is: when do you know it's time to euthanize a fish? I have clove oil on hand and I'm happy to do it, but I also want to give the medications a chance to work. He seems peppy enough when he's not in that sad, prone position and will happily munch away whatever I give him, but I don't want to read too much into what are probably also instinctual behaviors. It seems just when I'm thinking, "yeah that's it I should really do this" he perks up and moves around and then I question my decision. For those who have been in this position in the past, when did you decide it was time to let your fish go? I don't want him to suffer unnecessarily, but he's also such a sweetheart and clearly has some kick left in him. I don't want to cut his chance short to get better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Mar 2021 05:52 PM PST My current fish tank which is 57liters (about 15 gallons I think) is in need of abit of a spruce up. I have light blue medium sized stones and lots of childish decorations only today I had a kind of underwater photo as the background of the tank but changed it for a matte black one. I'm planning on getting either black or white sand and maybe some form of wooden piece and rocks and plants. Seeing as I already have fish in the tank what would be the best thing to do when I'm aquascaping aka can I put my fish in a temporary fish bowl while I do it? The do's and dont's of doing it ? Any tips to just having an all round more natural looking tank other than a childish one. Thanks again [link] [comments]

Black moor swimming upside down?? Posted: 12 Mar 2021 10:54 AM PST Hi folks, I've had two lil fish, Blossom and Boop, who I love dearly for a year and a half. The black moor, Blossom, has been sick recently. He had swim bladder issues a while ago (sinking, floating, not eating, very lethargic) which I treated in a separate makeshift hospital tank and he seemed better. Recently he's been swimming upside down. He doesn't seem distressed and he's active as his healthier sister Boop, he's just upside down. Every time I notice and go over to check on him he rights himself and swims normally. He's eating well and is active, he is just active upside down sometimes. Is this continuing swim bladder issues, and if so/even if not, what can I do to remedy this? Thanks 🧡 [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Mar 2021 06:50 AM PST I have two females quarantining right now, I just got them 2 days ago. I believe the warmer quarantine tank temp (78 degrees) triggered them to drop eggs. They are everywhere in the tank, all over the bare bottom. Do I need to vacuum them up? Will it cause any cycle spikes if they are left in there? They are also still fasting, so I'm not sure if that's reason enough to take them out? First time I've had a fish drop eggs, so bare with me. 😬 [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Mar 2021 11:16 AM PST I just bought an aqueon 55g aquarium to eventually put some goldfish into once its set up and stable. Petco has a great sale rn but they were out of the stand I was going to get and now that online is my only option, I was wondering what yall reccomend. There's a lot of mixed reviews out there for aquarium stands. I've even looked at ikea tables and TV stands, but I just don't think they'd handle the weight well. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Mar 2021 02:15 AM PST I have a gold fish and he was simply born wrong. He has bad genes and he's always been slow sluggish and inactive really his health started to deteriorate fast and I have him isolated in an empty breeder box in the tank so he doesn't get dragged into the filter intake. At this point he's really just stuffering and I want to put him out of his misery. I don't have clove oil and don't have any available to me and all honesty excuse the language but I don't have the balls to hit him on the head and stab him in the brain is there anything at else I can try because he is simply in really bad pain [link] [comments] |
