- When I tried to breed king, he ended up eating all the fry. So now I’ve tried again and looks like it’s successful in laying eggs. I’ve also fed him before breeding so let’s hope he isn’t hungry this time

Posted: 12 Mar 2021 10:54 AM PST Hi guys I'm wondering if I can get some help . I've came home from work to find my heater has malfunctioned - it was heating the tank to 35 degrees all day. I have took some water out and poured some cold water in and it is now down to 31. My harlequin rasporas and amano shrimp are dead, and I thought my betta was dead too but once I poured the cold water in he started swimming again. My question is will he be okay? Or will being at 35 degrees for at least 9 hours have cooked his insides ? He is doing okay just now but just want to see if this has happened to anyone else and if their betta was fine after it. Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Mar 2021 10:05 AM PST My mom who had a betta fish...25 years ago, said that they'll be fine in a FISH BOWL. She said that they'll be fine with this: 'No, they don't need a heater or filter.' 'Maybe just a little gravel and a plant or something.' 'Mine lived for 3 years in that! He looked happy.' Etc. I want to get a 5 gallon tank with a heater, filter, plants, hiding areas, gravel for the bottom of the tank, and have it live the best it can for several years. Thing is, she doesn't even know what a Cycling process is. I explained why its good to do it before putting a fish in, and she looked at me straight in the eyes and said 'Well, mine was fine in his when we didn't do anything. He was happy too.' Okay. This gets on my nerves. Im sorry I did my darn research while you probably listened to the employees at Petco who just want to sell stuff. (No, Im not saying all Petco staff are bad.) Seriously, she had one fish 25 years ago and think that my research means nothing. [link] [comments]
