I was visiting a LFS when I saw a betta that resembled my deceased betta, Dino. I knew I’d regret it if I left him so I brought him home! (I had a ready to go tank for him). My mom named the lil dude Six.

After joining this subreddit and learning 1.5 gallons was not enough, Sam here got a huge upgrade once we did more research!

Hullo, we're at about two weeks after taking this betta out of a vase, so here he is threatening some crypts. Swipe for day 1 and full tank shot

Transformation 5 days out of cup! Fins are growing and his head turned from red to black! He’s super active and zooms around all day. Ya love to see it.

6 month difference! He’s gotten so big and his fins continue to grow and he is still getting more coloration on his head and fins :) (also question about fins in the comments!)

new tank

What a difference a year makes! I joined here when my daughter moved and left me her dying Betta 😐 His tank was too small, too dirty and he was always in the dark. He couldn't stay afloat and would lay on the bottom on his side. I knew nothing about Bettas but this guy was gonna live! Ive upgraded tanks (a few times) learned how to treat fin rot, dropsy, proper water care, not to use plastic plants (ruins fins), to feed better food and a little about planted tanks. Thank you all for the information!!! So once again I bought an little bigger tank and tried my hand at planting it. Lots of trial and error and damn plants are expensive! This isnt the best planted tank but Im happy with it for now. I moved him yesterday and was so worried that overnight something was going to happen. To my surprise we are not even 24 in and hes building me this!! Its not big but it makes my heart happy!! Also....is it possible for his color to deepen overnight or is it just an illusion of the new tank? I swear hes 3 shades darker this morning. Here are some photos....its not the best tank Ive seen but Im proud of it

**now I have an empty tank so Im going to one of those terrible big stores and rescuing another needy fish
