Aquatic Snails It’s so weird to think that just a few weeks ago, my little buddy had no antenna at all (his old tank mates at the pet store ate them off) and now he’s thriving!

Need homes for my babies but TERRIFIED to ship!

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 04:31 PM PDT

I've got a 10 gal heavily planted tank and my ramshorns have BLOWN UP. I've thought of limiting feeding to get some die-off, or maybe culling, but I'm such a freakin' softie that I can't bring myself to kill the cute little buggers. I'd love to rehome them to someone who would like them (free adoption, lol), but I've never shipped before, and have heard of many shipping nightmares, as well as received some nightmarish shipments myself. They're beautiful snails — reds, pinks, blues, leopards, some even clear. Is there a solid, proper packing method that ensures their safety?

Dennerle Shrimp King Shrimp Salt GH+/KH+ safe for snails?

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 04:40 PM PDT

I normally use Salty Shrimp GH+/KH+ remineralizer with RO water for my tanks, and my snails do great on it. Now a friend gave me this jar of the Dennerle, so I wanted to give it a shot. Amazon has good reviews on it for shrimp, but anyone use it with snails? I've got (too many) ramshorns and two zebra nerites.

Nerites keep dying with no explanation, shrimp and betta are fine

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 10:20 AM PDT

I've tried Nerite snails 2 or 3 times now, and each time, they die soon after I get them with no explanation. The thing that puzzles me is that my Betta and Shrimp are all doing just fine. I had another one pass today (I did the smell test and it smelled like dead fish) so I thought to ask here. I tested soon after and my parameters were: Ammonia and Nitrite at 0, nitrate at 5, pH at 6.8-7.0, 9 drops for kH, 7 drops for gH, and I also tested for copper and it was at zero. They feed off of the algae in the aquarium (ten gallons) and I also drop in a piece of steamed zucchini 4 times a week, which they gobble up quickly. I've also never kept more than one in. Thanks for any help!

Haven’t cleaned my aquarium since 3/3, I have a betta, an ADF & 2 ramshorn snails. What are these white things in the foam filter, is it snail poop?

Clithon spinosus or Clithon diadema breeding?

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 02:40 PM PDT

Hey, Reddit! Any of ya'll had any experience with breeding Nerite snails? Specifically horned nerite snails and most specifically either of these two? I'm really interested in giving it a go, but having a difficult time finding much information on if it's ever been done successfully in the hobby.

Currently, I have a 60 gallon set up and my nerites are the joy of my tank, I have 6 but one larger one seems to be just a permanent taxi for a smaller one..the smaller one will get off now and then, monch some algae, then climb back on board for a ride to another part of the tank, and I've had so much fun watching them, I've looked into their types and would really like to see if I can get some of the horned ones to reproduce for me.

You guys I found two baby snails in my tank!!!! I'm a bit surprised because I heard that it's difficult for Nerite snails to hatch in a freshwater tank.

Mystery snails dead or sleeping?

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 11:42 AM PDT

So my 2 mystery snails hadn't moved in 9+ hours so I took them out of the main tank and into a smaller tank I use to separate fish when needed thinking they mightve passed away. Their trapdoors were slightly open for an extended period of time, which articles online said meant they'd died, but when I put a little pressure on them to pry them open they closed back up all the way. Could the snail be dead and this is a nerve reaction or is it likely theyre just dormant?
