Ginger root in snail tank?

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 09:50 AM PST

I read that ginger is good at getting rid of ich. I don't have ich in my tank but I was wondering if I was able to put a rooted ginger plant in my tank without bothering my snails, I'm fine if they munch on it as long as they're able to

Baby mystery snails!! We've got 4 more clutches left to hatch. We're going to be up to our ears in snails! (Tiny white dot on the glass of the shrimp tank)

Mystery snail has some trouble hanging onto things... or maybe he just lets go?

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 11:03 AM PST

When I bought my snail maybe 2 weeks ago , I didn't notice until I brought him home but he had a crack in his shell, the kind where it looks like he hit a point and there's a ring around it.

I thought it was poor care at the LFS, but I'm starting to think otherwise. Today, I was just watching, and I see him just... fall off the side of the tank and float down to the bottom. Didn't see any damage.

I've seen him other times just chilling on his side too, almost like he was moving around on a rock and fell off. I know mysteries will float to get rid of poor conditions, but my params are and have always been great. Anyone seen this behavior before?

Is my nerite snail dead? I dont smell anything other than the fishy tank smell, and cant seem to find comparable images of closed vs open trapdoors.
