Wanting to get two mystery snails Posted: 08 Mar 2021 02:50 PM PST Hi! I was wondering if a 1.5 gallon cube would be ok to house just two mystery snails and nothing else. All input accepted!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Mar 2021 02:32 PM PST Do you have any advice about the number of baby snails to give away to others? Someone is asking me for snails for their 55g, 40g, 29g, and 20g tanks. I don't know how many or what type of fish they have, but I assume they are partially-stocked, and I wasn't sure if "~2-2.5g per snail" applied to a tank with fish or with no fish. When I asked how many they wanted, they responded with "however many you are willing to part with". [link] [comments]

Looking for accurate information on trapdoor snails. Posted: 08 Mar 2021 08:29 AM PST Hello, I just received 6 japanese trapdoor snails for my aquarium and have found so much conflicting information on them. All of this is stuff I've read that directly conflicts with another website. 1) Snails don't need supplemental food in aquariums with plants and fish. Snails need zucchini/lettuce etc to vary diet. 2) Trapdoor snails live about 3 years. Trapdoor snails live up to 10 years. 3) Gestation is 9 months. Gestation is a few weeks/a month. 4) Trapdoor snails birth 1-2 babies on average. Trapdoor snails birth 15 babies or less on average. 5) Trapdoor snails can live outside of water for weeks. Trapdoor snails don't have lungs and won't leave the water. I've never kept snails before (intentionally) but really want the guys to live. One isn't moving much but I assume it's just getting used to the tank. All the others are zooming. I also have cuttlebone, is that something they need constantly? Just chuck it I'm the tank or put it in the filter? Any extra advice or information is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
