My girl Neptune with her morning derps.

My first real reddit post! The bubbies thought it was feeding time, but I was just taking a picture of their pH test for reference. Don't worry, they got their repashy!

Will someone be able to tell me if there’s anything ‘visually’ wrong with this fish?

Goldfish seems buoyant and I was afraid it might be dropsy. However, it acts pretty normal. Should I be concerned?

Help!

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 03:25 PM PST

I was misinformed and my goldfish has now eaten a small sucker fish. It's a very small breed that begins with an O not sure the exact name. It's been hanging out of my gold fishes mouth for at least an hour possibly longer as I was not home to know when this happened exactly. We have had these fish for months and never had a problem. I am just unsure of if my goldfish is going to be okay or not. I did contact the pet store and they said not to attempt to pull out of the sucker fish, and to just let the goldfish try to digest it. Any help is appreciated, and please don't be rude I was not told proper information and know that I should have done my own research. Thank you!

Pond Tank Complete!

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 12:59 PM PST

Finally finished planting up my 85 gal pond tank I set up for my two young comets, Glory and Cherry! After adopting Glory from my mom and getting him a new friend, Cherry, I was determined to give them a better home than their 20 gallon. I'm so happy to have finally succeeded! :D

The container is a Tuff Stuff tub/stock tank that I ordered from the Walmart website. It's only filled half way so far but I'm gradually filling it again due to an issue I had with the drain plug when I first filled it (I was dumb and didn't tighten the drain plug before filling, causing a small leak). Still getting over some paranoia that caused lol but after tightening the drain plug and putting on more silicone in addition to some plumber putty for good measure, things have been running very smoothly! It's also nice to hear the water sounds in my room when I go to sleep at night. <3

Converting a planted tank to goldfish tank flow issues.

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 12:38 PM PST

I have a 55 gallon tank and after removing all the driftwood and plants I noticed that all the debris tend to clump in some areas of the tank. I'm using a Fluval canister so the outflow is at the very top and does little to push water over the sandbed. Since goldfish don't like flow and poop a lot how do I combat these dead zones of poop without adding a flow pump?

Filter

How long can fish survive without proper filtration or oxygen? Powers been out for about 3 hours and it'll be up in couple but I'm just curious.

Play Sand or Pool Filter Sand from Home Depot?

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 10:01 AM PST

Just upgraded to a 60 gallon tank and I'm debating which kind of sand to get at Home Depot. I wanted black sand but realized how expensive it is so I heard about this good alternative. I'm just not sure which one is better..thoughts?

Hi...... again!

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 09:48 AM PST

Hi everyone, it's crazy ph lady again! So a little update, possible calm before the storm moment but here we go. Ph has seemed to have stabilised, looks like 7.2 to me. Might rise later at night, most of my rising ph happened at 10pm, currently 5pm at the moment. Ammonia is zero, currently all I've tested, but now I've got a cloudy tank? Is there any explanation for this? All I've done today is add some fluval bio enhancer, I think it's called and some stress coat. Seen a video on the sub about chasing for breeding and looked like what one of mine has been doing last night and today. Although that well and could be stress still. Seem a little darty but I've taken a step back and stopped observing them because I'll just overthink it and get extremely stressed out, as I've been for a few days now. Still super eager to eat. Any explanations? Any way to prevent this from happening again? Responded are appreciated!

What would happen if I put rocks in my goldfish aquarium that made the water harder?

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 08:31 AM PST

I already live in a hard water area and I've heard that goldfish can tolerate a large range of hardness, if I accidentally put rocks in the aquarium that would increase hardness, would this be a bad thing?
