Hello! I'm fairly new to the hobby so still learning the ins and outs of shrimp keeping. I've had a tank for a little over 2 months and had cherry shrimp in for around 3 weeks (give or take a few days). All has been going really well up until 5 days ago when I had the first death in the tank. It appeared to be a death after shedding which seemed a little strange as I have had a few successful moults since I added shrimp. Tested my water and all appeared to be in order until today when I came across another dead shrimp.

A little about the tank:

  • 52L lightly planted tank
  • Sponge filter
  • 20 cherry shrimp
  • Temperature sits around 24 with the current time of year
  • pH 7.2
  • GH 8
  • KH 4
  • Ammonia 0
  • Nitrite 0
  • Nitrate 5

I'm really at a loss for what to check for next or why they are dying.. Anyone else got any ideas?
